To the Nurse Who Called First

Before a family ever calls us, sometimes their nurse does.

It happened again recently. An LPN who had cared for a young woman for years called Antoinette with one goal: find out whether we were real. Could we actually handle cerebral palsy, a G-tube, seizures, and a long list of hospital visits? Or were we another website with nice photos?

She asked good questions. She got straight answers. Then she gave the family our number.

We've been thinking about that call ever since, because it says something we don't say enough: the nurse who has done the 2 a.m. feeds knows more about that person than anyone in the system. When a family has to move their loved one into a home, that nurse is often the one they trust most. And that nurse usually gets nothing for it except a goodbye.

So this is for you.

If your client is moving into a home

Call us first, the way she did. Grill us. Ask what we'd do about the seizures, the weight, the bowel issues, whatever you've been managing. If we're a good fit, we'll say so. If we're not, we'll say that too and point the family somewhere better.

Reading this because you are trying to work something out for someone you love? You can tell us about them at the bottom of this page. A real person reads every inquiry.

And after the move, you're welcome to visit. You know this person. We'd like your notes.

If you're looking for your next shift

We're hiring LPNs at $58,240 to $70,720 a year ($28 to $34 an hour, based on experience), day and night shifts. CNAs too, at $37,440 to $47,840 a year. Health insurance and a 401(k) come with it.

One LPN and one CNA are on every shift in each home, twelve-hour shifts, around the clock. Six residents per home. You'd be doing the kind of nursing you already do, with a team behind you instead of alone in someone's living room.

The nurse from this story? Antoinette told her we were hiring before the call was over. That's not a joke. Apply on our careers page or call (689) 777-2892.
